The Scream/UFO

OGP, “The Scream, UFO” (2017) is an original artwork in homage to Jean-Michel Basquiat. It is a hand-painted mixed media work made with acrylic paint, oil, and marker on cotton canvas, stretched on boards, measures 20 x 16 x .75 inches, and is ready to hang. On the verso, the work of art is titled, signed, dated and enhanced with a three-pointed crown. OGP pays tribute to JMB by incorporating several of his often used motifs, including the image of a wide-eyed primitive figure with an arresting face wearing a crown on his head, racial identity, the use of text adding to the overall meaning of the work, and minor touches such as doodled edges and arrows, all drenched in color.
